Emmett Technique is a highly sophisticated neuro-muscular hands-on therapy. It is used to treat a wide variety of muscular problems, relieving pain and realigning the body.
Emmett Technique was developed over many years by Ross Emmett, a remedial therapist with a clinic based in North Queensland. As the clinic was located in the Australian Outback, many of the patients who visited were people who worked on remote mines or cattle stations. These people were limited in the amount of time they could spend receiving treatment, but the Emmett Technique delivered them the relief they required.
Ross drew upon his innate ability to adapt his treatment to suit each individual patient’s needs and, consequently, Emmett Technique became known as the chameleon approach.
A qualified Emmett practitioner must be equipped with the skills to observe a person’s body and determine the necessary treatment, and to apply techniques derived from NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) to achieve optimum patient results.
How does Emmett Technique work?
Treatment involves applying light pressure to neuro-muscular activation points in sequences that unlock muscle memory and correct muscular dysfunction. This activation gives the brain the opportunity to re-evaluate the initial activator that created the neuro-muscular problem for the patient, thus bringing about a correct muscular and skeletal balance, improved range of movement and pain relief. In many cases, the treated dysfunction will have existed for a number of years.
Emmett Technique can be used as an effective adjunct to enhance the treatment value of other types of muscle release and neuro-musculoskeletal therapy, or may be used as very effective therapy on its own.
